The steps to making a freshwater pearl ring in silver.
Cumann na mBan pin
Recently I was asked to make a silver brooch a replica of one that was worn in the past Cumann na mBan (Women’s League) I saw an original pin up close and took a sketch, there were two types one large one worn on the lapel and a smaller version worn on the hat.
The constitution of Cumann na mBan contained explicit references to the use of force and arms against crown forces in Ireland. Under its constitution, the primary aim of the organisation was to “advance the cause of Irish liberty” and “teach its members first aid, drill, signalling and rifle practice in order to aid the men of Ireland”.
And this being the 100th year of the 1916 Rising I thought well it would be a fitting tribute to those women who had being previously forgotten and who proudly fought along their male comrades for Irish freedom. History
I have made a good few more of these brooches since before Easter and as each one in completely handmade every piece is different. I have made them for customers here in Ireland and UK and USA. The second one is slightly longer. They can be ordered to make call us on 059 9140122 or purchase here . Thank you to all who have purchased one of these pins it is a honour and privilege to make them for you. It helps to keep the memories of our fallen ladies alive
