About Us

Goldmark Jewellers was set up in 1991 by brother and sister Derek Egan and Marie Cronin. The Egan family have been in the jewellery business since their grandfather trained as a watchmaker in McDowells of O’Connell Street Dublin before setting up his own jewellery business in the west of Ireland in the small market town of Ballaghadereen. That shop which was taken over by their parents Aidan Egan and June Egan in the 1970s and now is run by another brother Aodhan so there are three generations of jewellers in the family.

‘Derek trained as a watchmaker and further developed his craft of making and repairing jewellery over the years working at the bench, while Marie runs the shop day to day We are delighted to have built up a strong reputation and have many loyal customers.’

Repairs are done on-site which means Goldmark can offer a quicker turnaround time than many of our competitors.

Of particular interest to our customers is the ability to re-purpose existing jewellery to fashion something new and unique.  Feel free to call in and discuss designs with Derek.  Whilst there is still a design and manufacture cost, the use of customer’s own gold/silver and stones where possible, reduces the overall cost of the piece.  Many of our customers have incorporated ring stones into a new symbolic design which holds meaning as well as beauty.

All of our items are available for collection in person, or we deliver by registered post (can include giftwrapping and a message of your choice).
